Community Event: TecHUB and Friends - May 2026

May 20, 2026 18:00
Zoo Zürich, Masoalahalle

An evening where everyone's welcome.

TecHUB opens its doors to the broader IT community twice a year — once for the Community Event, once for the Conference. Two very different evenings. This is the relaxed one. No agenda. No slides. Just good people, good food, and honest conversations about what's moving in Swiss tech.

Whether you're curious about TecHUB, looking to expand your professional network, or simply want to spend an evening with like-minded people from in and around IT — you're welcome here.

What to expect

A relaxed get-together with TecHUB members and guests. Come as you are. Stay as long as you like. Talk to whoever sparks your interest.

This is the kind of evening where a casual conversation can turn into a collaboration, a new contact, or simply a great night out.

Who is this for?

  • IT professionals curious about what TecHUB is all about
  • Freelancers, engineers, product people, and founders in the Swiss tech scene
  • Anyone who was invited by a member and wants to see what the fuss is about

Networking in the rainforest

On 20 May 2026, another successful TecHUB Community Event took place. At TecHUB Community Events, members bring along further interested or interesting individuals as guests. Once again, good conversations arose and old acquaintances were renewed.

We met at Zoo Zürich's Masoalahalle for an evening of networking, drinks, and a guided tour through one of Europe's largest indoor rainforests.

DATE: Wednesday, 20 May 2026 / 18:00 – 22:00

VENUE: Zoo Zürich, Masoalahalle

The TecHUB Community Event 2026 brought together IT and technology professionals from across Switzerland for a four-hour evening at Zoo Zürich. The format was simple: drinks on the terrace, a guided tour of the Masoalahalle rainforest, and time to connect with peers.

TecHUB.swiss organises regular events for IT professionals around Switzerland. The goal is to give people in the tech industry a chance to meet, share ideas, and build their network in a relaxed setting.

The evening started at 18:00 on the terrace of the Zoo Caffè. Drinks, snacks, and good weather made for an easy start. Developers, architects, CTOs, and IT managers from across the region mixed quickly — the kind of crowd that doesn't need much warming up.

People came to catch up with existing contacts and meet new ones. No agenda, no pitches — just the TecHUB community doing what it does best.

The TecHUB banner summed it up: Connect with IT professionals in your area.

The Masoalahalle tour

Midway through the evening, a Zoo Zürich guide gathered the group at the entrance to the Masoala Regenwald for a private guided tour. It was a highlight of the night.

The Masoalahalle is one of Europe's largest indoor rainforests. Built to recreate the ecosystems of Madagascar and Southeast Asia, it has tall banana palms, dense vegetation, and a constant warmth that feels genuinely removed from the city outside.

Inside the Masoalahalle

The tour covered paths through tall banana trees and tropical plants, with the guide explaining the different ecosystems on display — Thailand, Sumatra, Madagascar — and the conservation work the Zoo supports globally. One exhibit focused on the Sumatran orangutan. As habitat disappears, young orangutans are left orphaned. The Zoo helps fund care stations where they are raised and given medical treatment. Since the project started, more than 300 orangutans have been released back into the wild.

It's a good reminder that conservation work like this is ongoing — and that organisations like Zoo Zürich are doing more than just displaying animals.

Food and drinks

After the tour, we raised a toast in the Mora Mora Bar, right in the middle of Zurich's indoor rainforest, over a generous Apéro Riche.

The exchange on both professional and thoroughly everyday matters enriched everyone present. It was only later in the evening, when the zoo staff finally wanted to call it a night, that the gathering dispersed with fond memories. What remains is the memory of a fine occasion in a wonderful atmosphere.
